Three became the first UK network to make 0800 calls free from mobiles. That meant every business number charging high rates. To announce this in an engaging way, a range of fun 0800 numbers were setup for people to call up and waste time on. Britain spent over 5,000 hours on the lines, receiving compliments, automated sympathy and personalised lullabies.
